Frequently Asked Questions

  • Short answer- yes! All our services can be claimed under NDIS.

But it also depends on your plan, so it’s important to check with your plan manager.

Our 1:1 sessions and social events can be claimed under Community Social and Recreational Activities (04_210_0125_6_1) which is under core funding.

If you're not sure, get in touch and we'll help you figure it out.

  • Relate-Ability is for adults with disabilities who want to build skills and confidence around dating, friendships, and relationships. Our services are also available to families, carers, and support workers who want to support the people they care for in this space.

  • 1:1 sessions are delivered entirely online via video call — so you can join from anywhere in Australia. Social events are held in person in Brisbane. Keep an eye on our events page for upcoming dates and locations.

  • Absolutely. Support workers are welcome at social events and can also join 1:1 sessions if that helps the participant feel more comfortable. Just let us know when you register so we can plan accordingly.

  • Sessions are not yet open for bookings but are coming soon! Register your interest by using the contact form above and we'll be in touch as soon as spots become available.

  • Sessions are tailored to you, but common topics include: understanding healthy and unhealthy relationships, navigating dating apps safely, building social confidence, setting boundaries, communication, consent, safe sex, self care and being safe with pornography. If you have something specific in mind, we can work on that too.

  • Yes, absolutely. Your personal information is treated with complete confidentiality and will never be shared with others (unless you want us to). We take privacy seriously — especially given the personal nature of what we discuss.

  • We'd love to hear from you! Relate-Ability is open to partnerships with disability service providers, community organisations, and schools. Get in touch via the form above and let's have a conversation.

  • Yes — and this is such an important question. Many support workers tell us they feel underprepared when the people they support want to explore dating and relationships. It can feel like uncertain territory, and knowing how to respond confidently and safely makes a huge difference.

Relate-Ability can help support workers to:

    • Understand what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like for the people they support

    • Know how to have open, age-appropriate conversations about dating and connection

    • Recognise signs of exploitation or unsafe situations

    • Feel confident facilitating or supporting participation in social opportunities

    • Learn strategies for safely responding to questions & behaviours
