Using your NDIS plan with Relate-Ability

Many of our services can be linked to your NDIS plan. Here are some commonly asked questions to find out if our services will work for your plan.

If you still aren’t sure, we can help!

Send us an email at hello@relate-ability.com.au

  • Possibly yes — it depends on two things: how your plan is managed and what goals are in your plan. The good news is that most participants can access our services with their NDIS funding. Read on for more detail, or get in touch and we'll help you figure it out.

  • Here's how it works step by step:

    • Contact us and register your interest

    • We'll send you a service agreement outlining what we deliver and the relevant line item

    • Share this with your plan manager or support coordinator for approval

    • Once confirmed, we'll get you booked in

    • After each session, we invoice your plan manager directly — you don't need to pay out of pocket.

    • Self-managed— you manage your own funding. You can use Relate-Ability and pay us directly. ✓

    • Plan-managed— a plan manager handles payments for you. They can pay us on your behalf. ✓

    • NDIA-managed (Agency-managed)— the NDIA pays providers directly. This option is limited to registered providers only, and Relate-Ability is not currently registered. ✗

  • Unfortunately not through NDIS funding at this stage, as we are an unregistered provider. However, you have two options:

    • Switch to plan management — this is free and doesn't reduce your supports. Ask your NDIS planner or LAC about changing your plan management type at your next review.

    • Self-fund our services — our e-book and online course (coming soon) are priced to be affordable for everyone, regardless of NDIS funding.

  • Since October 2024, the NDIS requires supports to be clearly linked to your plan goals. For our services to be claimable, look for goals in your plan that mention things like:

    • Developing skills for safe and healthy relationships

    • Building confidence in social situations or meeting new people

    • Understanding boundaries and communicating needs

    • Increasing participation in community and social activities

    • Learning about dating and friendships safely

If your plan has goals like these — great, you're likely good to go. If not, these goals can be added at your next plan review.

  • It's worth asking. You have a couple of options:

    • Request a plan variation — if your goals have changed since your last review, you can ask your LAC or support coordinator to add new goals without waiting for a full plan review.

    • Raise it at your next plan review — come prepared with examples of why relationship and social skills goals are important for you. We can provide a letter of support if that helps.

  • Our 1:1 online learning sessions are most likely to be funded under the Capacity Building category:

    • Increased Social & Community Participation (CB) — for building skills and confidence to connect with others and the community. $70.23/hr

It depends on the goals in your individual plan. We recommend discussing with your plan manager or support coordinator to confirm if this category applies to you before booking.

  • Social events can be claimed under Core Supports — Community Social and Recreational Activities, line item 04_210_0125_6_1. This line item has no price cap and is quoted per event. It's designed specifically for activities like ours — social participation opportunities that reduce isolation and build real community connection.

  • The e-book is not typically claimable through NDIS funding, as it's a self-directed digital resource rather than a funded support. However, it's priced to be affordable for everyone — NDIS or not. It's a great place to start if you're not sure whether our other services are right for you.

  • You'll need:

    • A copy of the participant's current NDIS plan (or confirmation of plan management type)

    • Confirmation that relevant goals are included in the plan

    • Approval from the participant's plan manager (if plan-managed)

We'll handle the rest — including providing a service agreement and invoicing. Get in touch and we'll walk you through it together.

  • Absolutely. You don't need to be an NDIS participant to work with us. All of our services are available to self-funded individuals. Get in touch to find out more about our current rates, or join the waitlist for our e-book and online course — both designed to be accessible and affordable for everyone.
